mimas Fifth Birthday

mima's 5th birthday celebrations went with a bang last Saturday. mimafriends were engaged in meeting and greeting throngs of excited young children (and their parents) with stickers and balloons, birthday cake and giant cookies. The noise levels were nearly explosive as kids jostled to decorate fairy cakes and queued the length of mima's atrium to have their faces painted. The atmosphere was joyful, exciting and vibrant.

The mima staff and mimafriends volunteers were thrilled with the turnout which, in itself, demonstrates the positive role mima now plays within the community. Visitors of all ages swarmed the galleries as the steel band kept things bouncing in the atrium. The Friends extend a special thankyou to Amy, our departing administrator-volunteer, and Sarra who bravely turned up on the day to help out.

Another Friend, Meena, suggesting resuming our social coffee mornings. These seem to have petered out due to poor uptake but we've recently been kindly donated lots of coffee and specialist beverages by Ringtons so perhaps we should try again. If anyone is interested in a regular get-together, let us know and we'll set up a date for you to meet up and Meena can take it from there!
